BUCKWHEAT MEAD AGED IN TENNESSEE WHISKEY BARRELS

In 2025, we continue our signature grain mead series, but this time with something truly unique. Buckwheat - a plant native to Asia and part of the knotweed family - is treated here like a grain, as its seeds are used in flour form similar to wheat. We brewed the base mead with buckwheat malt and then aged it in Tennessee whiskey barrels until it reached its perfect grain-mead character.

This buckwheat mead is not to be confused with the more common buckwheat “wine,” which is made through distillation or fermentation and doesn’t fall under the classic wine category. We’ve embraced its versatility by crafting it as a grain mead.
